  1. If you are of colour, beware because their are a lot of rednecks in the more regional towns. If you're looking for somewhere diverse and multicultural, try the inner cities. Like Brisbane.

Queensland is sunny most of the time and everyone's accent is far more BASTARDIZED.

and people ACTUALLY say stuff like "g-day" and "mate"

  2. Queensland is the best state in Australia (in my opinion).

We have great beaches, the Great Barrier Reef, Rainforests, Mountains and bushland, as well as deserts.

Our climate is hot in summer, and warm in winter.  Yet we have easy access to parts of the country that have snow.

The people are friendly (mostly), and we have low unemployment.  We are a very multicultural state, yet house a large number of traditional land owners - the aboriginal culture, that we are still learning how to understand and respect.

We are only one state of Australia, yet Qld is much, much larger than even Texas in the USA - we have a town called 'Texas' in fact.  Qld's population is smaller than some cities in other countries.

We live in a variety of houses, from lowset brick homes to High set wooden homes with large verandahs.  But that doesn't matter because we spend most of our time outside enjoying the abundant sunshine, all year round.

Our land sizes range from a small city block of approximately 400sq/m to thousands of rural acres to run a cattle farm.

Industry ranges from tourism, blue and white collar workers to the man on the land.  All have been affected by the recent drought.  The city dweller by having to restrict water use to 140 litres per person per day, and the farmer to having to purchase water from a truck to try to keep his animals alive, only to end up in great debt and sometimes losing a farm that has been in the family for generations.

Drought often ends in flooding, or bushfire - so it's not easy to live on the land.

We are a nation that backs our battlers, and will stand by those that have genuinely hit hard times.  But we can't stand knockers and whingers.

It's a great place to live, a great place to bring up your kids, and I wouldn't live anywhere else in the world.
