I'm going there for a week in August on a lads holiday but was wondering what I should expect. Are there any beaches nearby? Good nightlife? Many bars or clubs?

  1. Absolutely gorgeous!  and the nearest coast is about an hour away.  Go to Huelva for nice beaches.  (take a right when you get to the coast).  MANY BARS AND CLUBS?  Yeah.  I think you'll find a bar or two.  Or ten on every block.  clubs...a few...check out Skipper on Monte Carmelo...I was just there and was super surprised to see it's still open (thirty years after the last time I was in it) but it was afternoon, and I didn't actually go in.  I wonder if it's still cool.  Yeah, they party until dawn there.  There are streets where you can't sleep for all the partying.

Hang out in Barrio Santa Cruz after ten...there's a place called La Carbonería.  no sign, but you should hear flamenco music through the open door.

One caveat.  August?  It's hotter than h**l there, so be prepared for extreme heat.

  2. I went there in January 06 and I absolutely loved it! It is so pretty, and appearently, really hot in the summer. (It was already around 20 degees Celcius in January!). Make sure you visit the Alcazar, arguably the most amazing place I've visited in Spain. And the area nearby is a nice place to stay!

  3. Well, I should tell you that Seville is the hottest city in Europe and you are going when it is going to be its hottest -- 100F and above is normal.  I hope there's a pool at your hotel. Also, a lot of the locals will have gone elsewhere in August to beat the heat.

It's a beautiful city . There are a lot of clubs and bars.  A  good nightlife  but probably not as lively as it would be at other times of the year.

You are about sixty or seventy miles from the coast -- Sanlucar de Barrameda is a town on the coast worth visiting. They have horse races on the beach in August.

  4. Lots to do, see and try!

It might be hot (most likely).

As for bars and clubs...you're in for a treat!
