What's The BEST Digital Camera for Professional Use?

I am wanting to buy a very nice digital camera in the near future and I wanted everyone's opinions on which camera/s that they think are the best out there. I am wanting to start a career in photography, and so my photographs can only be a good as my camera..and I want it to be amazing. I was looking at a 14 Mega pixel the other day at Fry's, that looked really nice that I am interested in buying. So if you own a camera that has at least 10 mega pixels or more, how do you like it? What brand is it, etc, etc

  1. Go to a real camera store - if you're in LA, Canoga Camera or Woodland Hills Camera, etc. have just about everything.

But if you want to buy the best, save a few hundred dollars on sale tax and order it from http://www.bhphotovideo.com instead.

By the way, I hope you don't take this wrongly.

Any dSLR (Nikon or Canon) would be very usable. Don't skimp on lenses though.

It sounds to me that you have an erroneous perception of reality about buying the "best" camera and hope it will magically make you an amazing photographer. A camera is just a tool-and it is the same as having a Steinway in front of me won't make me a concert pianist either.

  2. so my photographs can only be a good as my camera---not true........compostion of the subject is a major key to great photos..........great cameras dont make great photographers.........you cant buy a top of the line professional camera at frys.........i would go with nikon or cannon........lots of different lenses and accessories.....plenty of room for experimentation

  3. Among the best ones include:

    Small Format:

    Nikon D3

    Canon 1Ds Mk3

    Medium Format

    Mamiya ZD

    Hasselblad

    Large Format

    Sinar

  4. You have some learning to do if you plan on being a professional photographer.

You can have the Canon 1-Ds Mark III with all 21.1 Megapixels, a great strobe, Top of the line L-Series lenses, but if you are not framing right, don't know how to deal with Light, etc it doesn't matter how good the camera is.

    Megapixels = resolution, not quality.

The top of the line Nikon which takes some amazing low light pictures, is "Only" 12 Megapixels.  The Canon EOS 1-D Mark III, an excellent Portrait camera, is "ONLY" 10 Megapixels.  Both a great high end cameras, because they have the full "package" (good sensor, processor, etc).  But again, the pictures that they produce are only as good as the person handling the camera.
