...hurricance and/or tornado? And why is the one in Burma so destructive?

  1. They are all the same thing, different parts of the world different name.

    Pacific cyclonic storm-cyclone (100s of mile across)

    Both of the above are just different names for the same weather system which form over areas of warm water and derive the energy from the heat released by the water, dying when over land.

Scientists have not yet created a complete definition of the word; for example, there is disagreement as to whether separate touchdowns of the same funnel constitute separate tornadoes.
