  1. A duvet goes on couches and pretty much is just for show. I guess you could use one as a comforter, but it probably would not be as large as comfy as you would like.

  2. Thanks for asking this,I'm Australian and as far as I know we have Doona's and Doona covers, bedspreads and blankets, but I shop US a lot and the duvet / comforter thing confuses me no end, so I wiki'd it and now we will both know...

  3. A comforter is just one piece . a duvet is a cover that has one side open and you buy the insert of your choice whether you want a down insert or something firmer and you stuff it inside the duvet and close the one side. that way you don't have to put the whole thing in the wash you just have to take the duvet off and throw it in. and once you buy the insert you never really have to buy another so if your taste changes you just buy different duvets. They come in every color not just white.  ( I hope that explains it )

  4. A comforter is a pretty, heavy blanket with stuffing inside.

A duvet is like a really flat pillow. They're almost always white or cream.  Some are filled with feathers, down or poly.

A duvet cover is just that...a cover for a duvet. They are like a big pillow case, and very decorative. They are recommended to be used with duvets for 2 reasons.  They protect the duvet from getting dirty.  They also eliminate the constant washing that may be necessary.

They come in many colors and patterns so they can be used in all room decors.

  5. Duvets are put over comforters. Most commonly down ones. Kind of like a pillow and a pillow case. Duvets are make out of all sorts of fabrics and materials. They can come in any color. And I guess you could use a duvet as a comforter. I never really thought of that though

  6. I think a comforter is like a thick blanket, and a duvet (I have one) is like a blanket sheet with a hole at the end where you put the thick fabric at making it a nice cozy blanket. Makes it easier to wash, just take it apart, etc..

  7. A duvet is a cover that you Put a comforter inside! You can take it out and wash the duvet. Too much trouble if you ask me. But if you want softness, you can fill it with a down comforter (feathers!!) But its hot and feathers poke through :)

A comforter is just a thick blanket.
