Even after months and months of planning for a wedding, it's inevitable that something will go wrong. Whether it's a minor hiccup or a full-blown disaster, all brides have been there. So ladies, even if you aren't hitched, do tell, what was the worst wedding day disaster you've ever heard of or experienced?

  1. my aunt was marrying the same man for the 5th time [i guess she just couldn't decide if she really liked him that much] and 2 days before the wedding the church burned down...another church offered to let the hold the wedding there for free, and the next day it burned down, too...it was nutzo...we wound up having it in the back yard b/c none of the other churches in town would allow her near the property...

  2. I had my wedding at a beautiful outdoor shopping center in Southern CA.   My husband and I planned it there and imagined all of the awesome pictures our photographers could take in front of the Apple store, Macy's, Abercrombie & Fitch, and especially the Christmas tree (we had our wedding in December of 2007).

The day of our wedding, which we had shoveled out thousannnnds of dollars for, the security guard bicyclists stopped me and my photographers (who were taking shots of me between two stores) and said that I do not have permission for photographing myself in front of their architecture.

NONE of this was included in my contract. I became SO upset I started crying hysterically.  There I am in my gown, crying, while all of the shoppers passed the scene wondering why the bride is crying. It was a horrible experience and it nearly ruined our special day.  Luckily, after escalating it to the management, they approved of us taking pictures in front of two stores, but not the Christmas tree.  *sigh*

    Bad times :(

  3. no one turned up

  4. walked up the isle only to find my groom  had a hickey on his neck and it was NOT from me!

  5. My wedding had no major disasters. Just plain goofy stuff like~

    * Upon  getting into the limo, Mom sat on my bouquet. Later on, while I was walking down the aisle, pieces of it were falling off.

    *  Those running it forgot to come get me, Dad & the girls. The organist droned on & on for a half hour before they remembered us. Later on, I heard some people thought I was afraid & had run away. Also found out my sister-in-law started a nasty rumor that I had spilled red wine all over my gown!

    * Just before my maid-of-honor went down the aisle, one guest.. a boy with a broken leg & on crutches, hobbled across the aisle to the other side.

    * They gave us the wrong cake. It was yellow & belonged to the Bar Mitzvah across the hall! The poor kid over there had already eaten ours: white w/orchid tipped flowers. For a quick fix, the place put real irises on our cake, but it looked awful.

    * We had a post-reception party back at the hotel. One of the groomsmen left his shoes in our suite. After the party, just as we were..um..  consummating the marriage, he banged on the door yelling- "Dudes! I gotta get in there! Those shoes were rented!" *L*

Now as for the w-o-r-s-t, in person, for me, it was a lovely wedding that suddenly became quite creepy..

My brother had a very elaborate church wedding. It began so beautifully. At a very quiet point in the ceremony, just after the Ave Maria was sung, the head of one small statue, the Infant of Prague, fell off & rolled across the floor, scaring us all!

Eeep.. I'll never forget that one.

  6. wind blew out the tents....

  7. My aunts wedding:

The groom showed up 30 minutes late with his best man and they the groom had picked up the wrong suit and didn't try it on (his ONLY responsibility) so it was about 4 inches too short in the legs and arms and torso area.

Then the photographer got drunk and walked into the cake table and knocked the whole cake off the table into the grass.

Personally for me at my wedding, it was the aftershock of the wedding that sucked. I had a very small ceremony in just a plain cotton dress at a public garden. My uncle (a judge)married us and it was just us and our parents (bc he was joining military and we needed immediate wedding and couldn't wait another year until our actual set date). So then when my extended family found out I was already married they were all pissed and no one cared that I was having a formal wedding reception the next year when all the military stuff died down. For about 5 months all anyone said to me was "it would have been nice to have been invited to your wedding" and my mom kept telling them that they were still invited to our formal ceremony the next year with actual ring and vow exchanging and a reception but NO ONE cared and they wouldn't shut up about it.

  8. beach wedding and it was the wettest day ever!!!!!!

  9. It wasn't a horrible disaster but it could have been if people hadn't acted quickly. Since nothing happened it was actually very funny. The groom was lighting the unity candle and somehow managed to set the artificial ivy the candle was sitting in on fire. Thankfully everyone was able to get it out without anyone but the wedding party and the first few rows noticing that anything had happened.

lol I just found this question on DearSugar.com

Edit: I thought of another thing... My cousin the morning of her wedding woke up at about 3 and was in god awful pain. They (my aunt and uncle) rushed her to the hospital. Luckily she was a nurse at that hospital so she got treated just a little differently and was able to get out of there sooner then most would be able to. Anyway though she had kidney stones, if you've ever had them you know just how painful they are and that if you don't stay on your pain meds you wind up doubled over in floor. So she had to be on pain meds all day and passed the stone (luckily) on her honeymoon. She felt horrible all day but she was still one of the most beautiful brides I've ever seen.

Also I remember once when my friend's cousin got pregnant at 17 and her parents forced them to get married. Before the exchanging of vows she cried her heart out and couldn't stop repeating how she didn't want to go through with it. It was so sad and what's worse is that less then a month after she lost the baby.

  10. i attended an outdoor wedding... when they lit the unity candle the wind immediately blew it out. they continued to try and light it & it was continually blown out it was histericle!

  11. a friend of a friends wedding, the bridal party took 4 hours getting the bridal photo's done (because the bride - she wanted perfect pictures).  The day was real hot that day, the guests werent aloud into the reception area before the wedding party showed up, so more than half of the guests either went to the local pub - cos it was soo hot and the rest  of the other guests just got annoyed waiting and plain went home disappointed.

  12. 1. Father of the bride stepped on the veil and ripped out a big chunk of her hair with it!

    2. The groom couldn't say "faithful" in his vows.

    3. A centerpiece caught on fire and the table went up with it!

    4. A groomsmen dumped his beer on the wedding cake before they had a chance to cut it.

    5. The mother of the groom cut the cake before anyone got there!

    6. Bridesmaid dress was altered a little too small and was fine during pics but during the reception ripped right down the back seam and showed everyone her butt! Poor girl was in thong panties.

    7. Bride wore a piece of jewelry at the rehearsal that turned her so green no amount of make-up would cover it for the wedding...her neck was green for all the pics and the whole day!

-No none of these were all the same wedding I've just been to a lot of weddings!

  13. I've heard of a wedding where the groom and groomsmen went for a drive in the morning of the wedding and were involved in car accident where the groom died.

ETA, what's with the thumbs down? I seriously cannot imagine anything worse happening.
