What's a Park Aide on a car?

I was looking at a car i wanna get and this was one of its features

a parking aid usually helps in backing up it tells how close u are to things and it beeps at u when u get really close the closer u are the faster the beeps sometimes in the back of a car u will see a strip of led lights and u will be able to see them by looking in your rear veiw mirror and those judge distance

just another stupid gadget to supplement most people's poor driving/parking skills, and then to have to be repaired for $$$
