What's a better FF drafting strat this year: RB/WR or QB/TE?

Which of these two strats are better this year:

RB/WR: grabbing 3 rb's and 3 wrs in the first 6 rounds, and then getting middle tier QB/TE's later, or

QB/TE: grabbing a top tier QB/TE in the first 6 rounds, and having weak bench RB's and probably a 3-4th tier wr3?

  1. get a QB first round.. they give u the most points

    then 2 runnings backs.....

    then 2 recievers....

then best avalable that u need..

i've won 7 championships in a row bruh.. it works

and try to get a good qb/wr combo from the same team...

  2. I love FF draft strategy questions.

I always comes into a draft with a plan, usually dominated by conventional RB-RB wisdom, but I practice dynamic Value Based Drafting (VBD).

Much as in the NFL I let the draft come to me, and adjust my thinking based on the best available talent.

If I knowingly choose to accept weakness in one area, it is always in WR.  WRs can always be mined in from the wire.  Marques Colston was undrafted two years ago.

Likewise, quarterback is a deep position.  A manager can wait 4 or 5 rounds and still get Jay Cutler.

This saying and principle leads to championships:  "The value of a player is determined not by the number of points he scores, but by how much he outscores his peers at his particular position."

  3. There is no real strategy that works fullproof. Just always try and get the best value/upside for your pick. I usually do try and nab two rbs the first two rounds, but I usually go with whatever the flow is so I don't lose out on the talent.

And that 7 championships in a row is a load of ****.

  4. This is a modification of the "stud running back" theory:

As long as you have three running backs, two wide receivers and one quarterback by the time you start the seventh round you're good.

Also, if you're going for an elite TE, he will count as one of your wide receivers.

  5. I would say neither. You can get two good/great RB's in the first three rounds. Then with the other 4 picks in the first 6 rounds, you can grab a combination of a QB, WR's, backup RB or TE. It all depends on where you are drafting and who is available. Don't go into the draft thinking about the question you have, get the best available players. If you have 2 stud RB's in the first 2 rounds and you can get a great 3rd RB because he is the best player available, do that.

I will say, though, that there are more and more TE's coming into the league each year that can contribute. So get a top-tier TE is no longer a real necessity and it isn't as big of an advantage as it was before. As for a QB, most leagues start only 1 QB, so you should be able to get at the very least, a top 15 QB if you wait for one. So you have the luxury of getting the RB's and WR's that are off the board quickly, knowing that a good QB will be there later.
