I want one that'll last, but that will also cut thick grass. Any opinions on these two?

The Craftsman would be $65, the Snapper $40.

  1. Most mowers are made by three different manufacturers.  So, not much difference in the mower.  B/S engines are top notch.  Easy to repair.  But for thick grass just make sure your blades are nice and thick and well sharpened.  Don't bush-hog.  Take it slow or you'll blow a belt.

  2. I'd go with the Craftsman because of the horsepower but the overall condition of each mower would play a significant part in making a decision. Pull the plug and look for fouling. Check the oil, black or honey colored? Check under the deck, clean or dirty? Which one starts easily? Good luck.
