For skating out, I had a Bauer HH5000 which was the best helmet at the time and never had any problems. (Since outgrowing it, I switched to a CCM)

I wear an Itech when playing goalie though + granted it's not great, I haven't gotten a serious injury wearing it and have done so for 5+ years and have played against many former and current pro players including HOFer and Flyers g.m. Bobby Clarke
