  1. AMD is the best buy and is plenty fast.

Intel if you like to spend money on a name.

  2. AMD still gives you more bang for your buck. If price isn't an issue always go Intel's higher end.

  3. Both

Intel and AMD make the vast majority of processor for the domestic and business use marketnd are the most well known of all processor manufacturers

Both Intel and AMD make processors suitable for a wide variety of applications from the budget concious to the out and out extremes of gaming demands

instead of tossing up which is better by manufacturer use the following rules

Budget: How much have you got to spend on a computer

Use: What are you mainly going to be using the computer for

Future use: for example you may be in school or college now but you may be using the computer for more demanding applications in 2-3 years time, you may choose to buy another computer by then but if you choose a laptop that is higher in spec now it would be able to cope with demands in the future

    tips:

Avoid the cheap cheap laptops as they arent future proof

Avoid Intels celeron processors and AMDs Sempron processors they are cut down versions of a Pentium (intel) and Athlon (AMD) even if they are fast processors they will perform significantly worse than other processors available

Go for known brands that offer reliability and service if you need it

    HP, Toshiba, Alienware and Samsung

    Avoid Avoid Avoid

ACER, Packard bell, NEC, IBM, Lenovo, Fujitsu siemens, Dell and Panasonic

Poor build quality and poor service if/when you need it

    hope all this helps

  4. amd, they have more dual cores, than intel, like there are no laptops at bestbuy without amd turion 64x2-dual core, they have a lot of celerons, and amd has been fatser for a while, amd had 1.83 amd 2.0 ghz

  5. I would have to say AMD. I've had nothing but problems and under-performing processors from Intel.

  6. Intel is the better processor

AMD does not make good processors

    they are very slow

the best amd processor is as fast as inter core 2 duo which is intel's better than average processor

  7. USED INTEL FOR YEARS ...LAST NEW COMP AMD ... WORKING GREAT NO COMPLAINTS AT ALL ........

  8. I agree with "Alex."

  9. Intel Core 2 Duo

  10. Well, processor preference is all opinion, but in my opinion AMD, they have been in the 64-bit processor game a lot longer, which is what Intel is now switching to. I have also always had a lot fewer crashes using AMD processors, but it could just be my luck, and it is all opinion

  11. AMD would be fast enough for you. There's no significant difference if you're just going to do basic tasks.

Save money going with AMD. No point in buying anything you wouldn't need.

  12. Intel actually just recently came out with a new processor called the Atom™ that sips power only when necessary. Uses a tiny amount of power and still performs rather well. And since it uses less energy, it won't burn your lap after long hours of use, and you can get more battery life out of it!
