    ATSC tuner is used to view  over the air digital TV, including HDTV, using an antenna.

    NTSC tuner is used to view over the air analog TV using an antenna, and unencrypted analog TV from cable, without a cable box.

    QAM tuner is used to view unencrypted digital TV, including HDTV, from cable, without a cable box.
