  1. Hi a capture card is typically a piece of hardware that is used to hook some sort of dvd video game player to a computer and in turn the device will record anything seen on the player to your computer allowing it to be published on the internet, saved for a later date, or recorded to a dvd.

  2. A capture card basically allows you to transfer and save video from VHS, Hi8, etc. tapes to your computer's hard drive. If you have a digital camcorder, you will not need a capture card and can simply plug your camera into a USB or firewire (1394) port on your computer. Hope this helps!

  3. A pc will not import analog video signal, like video from Hi-8, VHS camcorders or similar players, unlike digital video streams from miniDV and digi-8 vcams.

A video capture card is a device which wud facilitate the 'digitalization' of the video signal together w/capture software, so that the 'digitized' signal can then be uploaded to a pc. TV tuner cards usually come w/ video capture attachment. These come as pci for pc or pcmcia / express card for laptop.

With the advent of USB, some video capture devices are now USB based.
