  2. what do you mean by sweatshops?

    I would not consider a factory a sweatshop. I would consider a sweatshop a place where they pay under minimum wage, explloit children and/or have unsafe wroking conditions...

    MExican labor laws are very strict, to work you have to be at least 16, unions are formed very easily and their always fighting to increase the wage... vory unlikely to find someone paying the mexican minimum wage... At least in Juarez, Maquiladoras (factories) pay about double the minimum wage.

    Working conditions are also highly regulated by federal agancies, they do suprise visits, big fines etc... (IMSS) health social security, regulates most of this.. employers er rquired to put every worker on that healthcare system...

    So.. if you are looking for real sweatshops go to India or China...

    If you feel a sweatshop is just a place where foreign people who make less than you work, then you are probably wrong...
