  1. european bier cafe is pretty good.  upstairs as well. Heaps of different beers on tap and really nice staff

  2. You can try looking at menulog.com.au - they lists almost all the restaurants in AU.

You can search by zipcode or place - I've tried it for 3 times for the last month - and it's cool!

  3. I'm Melbourne born and bred so I'll give you my favourites.  Crown Casino is the home to Number 8 Restaurant - Upmarket Steakhouse, seafood Restaurant, I go to other restaurants but can't beat that place the food is so damb good!!

The Waiters Restaurant, Hidden up on the first level in Meyers Pl, Melbourne.  It's legendary. Laminex Tables, Good old fashioned italian, unchanged for years.

  4. There are more restaurants in Melb than people, take your pick. lol

  5. Maha Bar and Grill, on Bond St (near Flinders Lane)

Middle Eastern cuisine and recently awarded one hat by The Age Good Food Guide 2009.

A good balance of classy and casual...

  6. It really depends on what type of food you like, Degraves st. has lots of great casual dining, or there's the docklands area for great steaks (a little pricey though) then there are the pubs. the age good food guide is probably your best choice for information, you can borrow it from your library. Hope this helps

  7. If you are looking for some real, original Italian, you can't go past Il Gambero's on Lygon St Carlton. It is a family run business, with well priced, big servings and has a sort of cosiness that is so welcoming in winter. The staff are friendly and love to have a conversation with you, love feedback about the meal. I encourage you to give it a go! There are many other shops around it, so you can buy some handcrafted chocolates, New Zealand gelati, buy a book at the newsagents, or have a coffee while your there!
