  1. Duty-free shops are retail outlets that do not apply local or national taxes and duties. They are often found in the international zone of international airports, sea ports or onboard passenger ships. They are not as commonly available for road or train travelers, although several border crossings between the United States and Canada have duty-free shops for car travelers.

    The world's first Duty Free shop was established at Shannon Airport by Dr Brendan O'Regan in Ireland in 1950 and is in service to this date.

  3. A duty free shop here in the united states is for persons traveling to the U>S. from other countries. They can go in to the store and show the merchant proof of travel adn where they live. Once that is done they can buy everything in the store TAX FREE. That way we are not charging travelers taxes to come here.

  5. It's a retail shop that's usually in international airports where you can buy products without paying taxes.  The products are often marked up more than the tax on them would have been.
