What's a goddaughter?

It's a child of a close friend or family member whose parents asked you to be his/her godparent.

It usually has more religious implications than anything, as the designated Godparents are supposed to stand at the Christening and promise to help the child with thier spiritual education, particularly if the parents are unable to do it.  That doesn't mean that they have any legal claim over the child if the parents were to die, however.  That is a guardian, not a godparent.

A goddaughter in relation to you would be a little girl who someone felt that you'd be a good candidate to look after if anything should happen to them. it's cliched in movies a lot but does include legal obligations. to officaly become a god parent the parents and you need to sign papers saying that you will look after the child when their gone.

A god daughter is the child of a close friend or family member who shares the same religious faith as the god parent.  A god parent's duties are to make sure the god child's religious up bringing is in the faith their parents have chosen and if anything happens to the parents (death) the god parent is to be able to make sure the child continues to be brought up in that faith.  That is what a god child is.

When a child is Baptiste .the parents choose someone  to be god parents eg god mother ,god father.these people are symbolic parents to the child.Its choosing someone that you would what to raise your child in the event that you are no longer able to .The child is called a god daughter for a girl or god son for a boy. EG I choose my friend to be my daughters GODMOTHER .then my daughter to her is her GODDAUGHTER.

A god daughter is if someone has a baby and chooses someone special to them to be their godmother/father, in other words not their biological parent but someone so special to the parents they want them to be there for them
