  1. Sutter Homes is a great tasting wine for under $9 and comes in: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignaun, White Zinfindel, Riesling, Shiraz and more. Gallo is another good one. Try to find a bottle aged for atleast 5 years. I can find Sutter Homes with a 1998-2002 date for $7.99.  Cabernet Sauvignaun is my favorite, not too sweet or bitter, and it goes good with anything. Plus it makes me feel happy.  :-)

  2. I like the following two Italian reds.

Carpineto "dogajolo"..   very nice Super Tuscan blend. Goes real well with any Italian red sauce, with a variety of cheeses or if you just wish to have a glass or two.   $10

Monte Antico...another fine red blend..Goes well with just about anything.   $10

  3. There's an Australian merlot for under ten dollars that is pretty good, the name of which I cannot remember but if you ask I'm sure they'll know. I've also had Yellow Tail, another Aussie red that is good for under ten.

  4. Bolla Valpolicella or Bolla Bordolino, About 13 - 15$ per bottle.  Both dry imported Italian wines with a kick.

  5. I like Blackstone Merlot.  It's under $10 dollars and has a fruity flavor and smooth finish.

  6. This simple question could take days to answer.  Do you have a preference for region, country, style, grape, etc., etc.  But to cut to the chase, go with a Gallo Hearty Burgundy.  Its probably about 5 or 6 bucks.  Its got decent fruit, mostly soft on the tannins and easy to drink.  Who knows what Gallo puts in it, but its probably Merlot with some Cab and Zin thrown in.

  7. i like 'livingston" burgandy--some people don't--just a matter of taste--cost bout $8

  8. Ripple, or Thunderbird.............they're the nectar of winos, everywhere!

  9. Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. £5.50 in England. Fruity & full flavoured. 13% Alchohol.

  10. BV (Beaulious Vineyards) Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon.

Woodbridge (Mondavi Vineyard)  Merlot and Cab.

These are fairly good red wines that are under $10.

Another tip:  When you are at the liquor store ask the clerk what he/she suggests for a good, cheap wine.  You might be mildly surprised at their knowledge and eagerness to show you their expertise.  If you are at a primarily beer store or grocer forget it.
