  1. risk,or chess

  2. Try learning Wei-qi (Go). Here's a link to a site that talks about it more in depth. http://www.ccgs.com/games/index.htm

  3. Well, besides chess and checkers, there's always "Go".  "Go" is actually much more complicated than Chess, so much more so that there is no computer "Go" program today that can beat a decent human player, whereas even a decent chess software program can crush 90% of the people in the world who play chess.

Backgammon is a game of skill, although an element of luck exists in the game because of the use of dice, whereas chess, checkers and "Go" are games of pure skill.

  4. Mastermind

    Stratego

    Battleship

    Tank Battle

    Any Avalon Hill War Game

    Mancala

    Go

  5. try playing guess who? trivia pursuit (though you'll to roll dice to move.

  6. Stratego

  7. Jeapordy, Wheel of Fortune

  8. I would have gone along with the first answer because chess challenges your intelligence and the ability to counter and push your opponent back using strategy. You can't play too defensively or too offensively because you might get too far ahead of your self and throw away the game.

  9. Blokus is fun. It's like a two to four player board game version of Tetris.

  10. chess is the best

  11. Dude get RISK

There is a element of luck but you'll find that in any game with a dice.

    But i'd also say Statego

  12. connect 4 or guess who heck clue was genius

  13. I agree with "Go". It is a game of simple rules, but the strategies are as complex as you can make them.

  14. snakes and ladder

  15. chess (including variants), checkers (or droughts, including variants), go (including variants), Othello.  (Backgammon uses dice.  Moe Howard rolling double sixes would beat Einstein rolling 1 and 2.)

I can't think of any more that are playable.  Maybe Mancala,  but I don't know much of it.

Tic-Tac-Toe and the French Military game avoid luck but are not playable.

  16. chess

  17. Darn. I was gonna say chess. Um... how about 20 questions?
