I'm auditioning in.... THREE DAYS. and I still have no idea what to do for an audition song, I'm auditioning for Ragtime- The Musical. I can belt and I have a lot of range, but I only need 16 bars- Any suggestions?

If you know where to download the song for free or get the musical score for it too that would be awesome :) But I know you all are lazy so if you don't thats ok :)

  1. Will there be an acompanist? Be sure to ask them to give you your starting note instead of an intro. For me it's always easier. Have you studied with a Voice Coach? Try to sing something by the composer that isn't in Ragtime. Maybe look for something that has the same type of sound. Some nice songs would be:

Honey Bun from South Pacific (A good belt in the last 16 bars)

Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair from South Pacific

    Popular form Wicked

The Wizard and I from Wicked

    Johnny One Note

I Can Hear the Bells from Hairspray

    Hope I helped.

And you can go to the library and ask for the MUSICAL ANTHROLOPOGY FRO Mezzo-Soprano. They should have copies that you can photocopy, but if not check the local Musical store. SOmeplace where they sell band equiptment and amps. Thay should have some song books and if you ask nicely they'll photocopy them for you. Good Luck ---Oops! BREAK A LEG! ;^P
