  1. Bake him something...My dad loves that.  especially pies and cakes.

  2. A gift card to a DIY ( Do It Yourself) store.  Men always like electric drills.  Home Depot or Lowe's have them

  3. goto your local b&q,they have some great deals on at the moment,

  4. If he's into DIY, it's great to get him tool(s). But which one? Most Mr. Fixits have their own ideas about tool types, brands, etc. They may thank you if you buy them one, but they usually have particular things in mind, and that's what you want to buy them.  A gift certificate at Lowes, Home Depot, etc. is the answer, but it's a bit impersonal. Get one, put it in a nice greeting card with a note that says YOU are taking HIM shopping for tools. This way you share the experience with him, he gets what he wants, and you have enjoyable time together. Believe me, the time together doing something you both enjoy is the BEST gift you can give him...the amount of the gift card is mush less important than the sharing! If you are temporarily short of funds, just give him the card and note, saying that at some specific date in the future [next time you get paid?], you will go shopping with him.

  5. Impact drill/driver. If he doesn't have one, it'll be the best gift ever, I promise. I bought one of these little dynamo's a year ago after using a drill for all my household and work projects and I'll never go back. I work in the auto industry and people that work on lines who must remove nuts and bolts daily swear by these things. Hey, good luck to ya, and happy birthday to pops, he deserves it!

  6. Boy, I like doglover's answer.  A baked treat always hits the spot.

  7. hmm....make him a homemade birthday card. it would be so wonderful! you can probibly make him something that he likes or something i dont no sorry. :(

  8. Cards are a good idea, and so is stuff like Soap on a Rope, painted beer glass, beer bottle wall hangings (not too sure how to do it, I think you just put the bottle in the oven and it melts down . . .).  Maybe a plant or vegie garden, or you could do a gift voucher book (full of vouchers that your dad can redeem from you - eg: brekky in bed, mowed lawn, etc).

To do the Soap on a Rope:

Grate 2 bars of soap.  Add a handful of oatmeal and enough water to stick it all together (about 2 tablespoons generally).  Make a ball and stick a long piece of roap with a knot tied in the end into the middle (knot end in the middle of the soap ball) so that the rest of the roap hangs free.  Dad can hang the soap in the shower and never drop it again!

    Hope that's helpful!

  9. How about you take it out for lunch. It will be happy. You could give it a big hug and say nice things to it

  10. I am general contractor and diyer at home.i have 3 daughters and they are always asking me what i want christmas,b-day what ever holiday.the best gift is for them to take time out of there busy schedule,i knowi ts hard, and to tell me how they are doing and a good dinner.

its not about the gift i have all the tools spending time with my now grown daughters is my greatest gift

  11. Give your dad your love. cook him a dinner give him a neck rub make him a coffee / beer, put his feet up ask him how his day has been. Just tell him for his birthday you are going to spoil him and is there anything he would love you to do. Make sure you make or buy a card though.
