Question:

What's a good Downtown Detroit Ceremony and Reception Location?

I'm looking for a place to hold my ceremony and reception in Downtown Detroit. I'd like a non-traditional space like an event loft or event warehouse. I'm also open to other places, but it would need to accommodate at least 250 people.

  1. It's not in downtown Detroit, but Meadow Brook in Rochester, MI is a really nice place for wedding. We're getting married there in a week. It's an old mansion built in 1920s. You will be renting the whole place for 6 hours so there won't be anybody else except for you, your guests, and of course the vendor people. You can have the reception in their garden tent which can accomodate up to 350 people.

  2. The Roostertail is GORGEOUS. I've seen proms and weddings held there and it's an amazing place for events like that. Definitely big enough, we had 300 people there at prom. I know that probably makes it sound traditional, but it's not at all your typical wedding reception venue.

Their best room is on the second floor. The walls are entirely made up of windows that face the Detroit River, which is especially beautiful when the sun is setting. They also have fountains outside that shoot high enough to be seen outside the window. All you have to do is tell them your colors and they take care of everything else for you so it's super easy and you don't have to stress as much. Here's their website: http://www.roostertail.com/

    Other slightly unusual/interesting venues:

    Gem Theatre

    Detroit Princess Riverboat

    Greektown Casino

    Detroit Zoo

    Silver Garden of Southfield

    The Henry Ford

    The Masonic of Detroit
