Right now, I'm at 15 or 14 credit hours and I want to add a math course.

Calculus for Life Sciences (it's like 4 credits which I don't really know what that means)

BUT...I just want to get math out of the way

I have Chem 1 and Chem lab

Bio and Bio lab

Reading conferance

this leadership class

orientation...and that's it

Should I add math?

  1. 12 hours is a full load, but most freshmen take at least 15 per semester in order to graduate on time. It looks like you've got a demanding load already, have you thought about CLEP? I wouldn't take a math in addition to those classes you've already signed up for.

  2. you should keep it that way take math next semester right now you have 2 labs which is like ugh!!! labs always require a little more work.

  3. I would recommend waiting until next semester to add a math course.  Your first semester is going to be a very challenging one, and you already have plenty of credits.  It wouldn't be ridiculously difficult to add a math course, but in order to graduate a student needs 120 credits, which is 15 credits per semester if the student were to graduate in 4 years, so you are at a healthy pace as it is.

  4. 15 hours is a nice easy load if you want a good social life.  Up to 17 is not hard to hadle and still have time for other things.  19 or 20 hours and I would have had a hard time keeping my grades up and having a social life as well.  It all depends- when I was in school I preferred to have a socail life and still wanted good grades so I never went over 17 hours.  Other peiple I knew who were more of the over achiever personality went with 20 hours and locke themselve in their room all the time to study.  It just depends on your goals and personality.

  5. I would say you should wait until next semester to add the math course. You are taking Chem and Bio already, you probably don't want the math as well.  Also, it might just be too much to take five classes.  However, if you think that this is not a load that will overwhelm you, you should def. add the math class. Also, if you are really good at math you should add the class.  If not, then def. wait.
