  1. Gotcha lures jerked back erratically

    Fresh shrimp or fresh squid

Bait shops and piers only sell frozen. Fresh make a big difference. They will recommend what they sell.

    Blood worms or fishbites(fake bloodworm)

  2. bluebait??

  3. Artificials work best.

If the blues are in a school and having a feeding frenzy almost anything that is shiny will work.

Off a pier in NY try a surface pooper lure...if I could only have one I would get at blue & white  Atom Popper. They should be reeled in rapidly making a lot of splashing noise when moving towrds you.

There are many others that work well too, a Hopkins or other types of "spoon" lures.

Have fun experimenting with what works best for you in your waters at the time of year and the time of tide.
