What's a good board game for my wife and I to play?

My wife and I would like to get a game that we can start and stop whenever. Something we can leave on the table and play when we have a few minutes. She's not really into strategy-type games, although that may be our only open.

  1. life is really fun

  2. Other non-traditional card games that are 10-15 minutes per game might be options. Ones to consider that I've found popular with non-game players:

    Lost Cities

    Drive

I can endorse the Carcassonne suggestion, great 2-player game.

  3. Life, Clue, or Sorry are really fun.

  4. Trivial Pursuit

    Dominoes (LOVE it)

    Battle of the Sexes

    Worst Case Scenario

  5. Our favorite two-player board games that are light on the strategy:

    Boggle

Stratego (we love to play this)

    Battleship

    Scrabble

    Backgammon

    Othello

  6. snakes and ladder

  7. We like all kinds of card games (such as Gin Rummy, Spades), Scrabble, Boggle, Mastermind, Backgammon, and Dominoes.

It's also fun to leave a jigsaw puzzle on a table and work on it together.

It's not a board game, but if you print out multiple copies of the same sudoku puzzle, it can be fun to compete to see who finishes first.  Same with crossword puzzles.

  8. Monopoly

  9. Well it sounds like you just described strip poker to a tee. Put the fun back in the lovelife.

  10. a great game would be Carcassonne. its a tile laying game, very light and fun. i play it with my husband all the time. it is a lesser known game but it is really worth it. i highly recommend it.

  11. Scrabble!!  My husband and I used to play that for hours at a time and we got very good at it.

Sometimes we would make a bet as to who would make the first 7 letter word.................I got a new kitchen floor out of that once!  :-)

We also used to enjoy  putting puzzles together

Both of these are things you can set aside and carry on later.....and it was a good opportunity to talk and catch up on each other's news

  12. Scrabble would certainly work for that.  Also consider cribbage if you like cards.  Mancala is an excellent game, ancient and interesting.  It is deceptively simple yet amazingly complex, and you probably could always finish a game because each game takes only a few minutes.  Enjoy!
