I plan on playing it for jazz, but I might end up using in concert too. I would prefer some that looks at least someone unique, but I know that all to often you end up paying just for the looks. My foremost concern is quality.

  1. I have a silver plated Selmer Super Action Series III that I got used.  It is beautiful!  and it plays great.

go to a shop maybe you can find something used, and unique

  2. my alto yamaha y-52 played like a dream.  i believe that's a major reason i was 2nd chair as a freshman in high-school among 6 other alto-saxophonists.  the only one above me was a very talented senior.  yamaha...don't you just love saying it?  it's an ALMOST professional brand (at least the one i had was)  it costed 2,300 bucks and was worth every penny.

  3. Check the King or Selmer Sax. They are the two most widely used for quality, sound, and re-sale value. They never depreciate over time.
