and also, do -any- bottles work for storage, or do you have to use only the brand of the pump. The pump I've been looking at doesn't come with BPA free bottles, but I would like to use some.

Oh, and I will be pumping A LOT. I go back to school 5-6 wks after my baby is born and I want to breastfeed, so I need to pump milk for my mom to feed it while I'm at school. I may have to pump twice a day (once in the morning and once on campus...don't worry, i have access to a conference room for privacy) so I need a GOOD pump.

  1. I used Medella and loved it.  Their bottles have always been BPA free and they are perfect for storing and feeding.  A good pump is very important.  No pump could ever stimulate your b*****s as good as your baby, but a double electric breast pump is absolutely necessary if this will be an everyday thing for you.  You can also rent the hospital grade Medella pump from most hospitals or from on-line places.

  2. me

  3. if you have access to a certified lactation consultant you should definitely schedule an appointment.  i will be returning to work and will be pumping 3-4 times a day and have chosen to get the "medela freestyle" which my lactation consultant felt would be the best pump for me since i will be using it so much. she said that she would not recommend any brands other than medela or ameda because they just don't hold up as well. you do not have to store breastmilk in the bottles you pump into, you can immediately transfer the milk into whatever other container that you want to use. i bought some silicone ice cube trays and will be freezing my milk in the cubes that measure 1 fluid ounce each so it will be easy to defrost exactly the amount i will need.

    good luck!!

  4. the chicco electronic  pump is nice with its bottle..i am afraid u have to use it's bottle but u can depend also on the disposable plastic bags which used to be inside the bottle..i think that is gonna help u

  5. I have heard that Medela is the best. They are also the most expensive. I would go to like Wal Mart or Target.com and read some of the reviews they have on the pumps. Pretty much all of them have someone not happy but some have more than others. I think it's mostly trial and error. Good Luck and Congrats!

  6. Medela Double Pump In Style is awesome!

Avent is coming out with BPA free bottles and Dr Browns already has them out.

I'm a big fan of the Playtex drop-ins when I do use a bottle....they are BPA free.

  7. Sometimes you can rent the Medela electric breast pump. I chose to rent it before I paid a lot of money.I really liked it better than all the others.

  8. The Medela pump is the best, without question.  But it is expensive.  There are some decent pumps at Walmart, but there aren't as good.  Look at things like easy of transport, if you're using it as school.

And you will need to pump ALOT more than twice a day.  You need to pump 3-4 times a day, in addition to feeding you baby.  When you are home, pump again after you baby eats to drain out what is left and keep your milk supply up.  You can keep breastmilk in the fridge for a while and freeze it.  The more you have, the better.
