  1. The London Hotel

  2. try the purple hotel tower hill e1 reasonable rates and right in the heart of the city of London with easy access to trains for travelling round London

  3. For cheap places to stay in London check out:

  4. Look just off the Museum district (near Kensington Tube).

There are hotels off the in side streets which charge around £20/night with breakfast.

Accommodation is fair, and you have  private room (some are en-suite).

More centrally, expect the price to double or treble...

  5. I think that Bed and Breakfasts are the best way to go in London when it comes to central and inexpensive lodging. Plus you get free breakfast. Though London B&B's aren't as charming and homey as the ones in the country, they're much less expensive than large hotels and offer private ensuite rooms that are quite clean.

I've stayed in the Vegas hotel (http://www.vegashotel.co.uk/) near Victoria Station. This room was bizarre since you entered through the loo to get to the bed, however, at least it was ensuite, cheap, clean, included breakfast and had a television. That area around and behind Victoria has dozens of similar B&Bs, and the same is true of areas surrounding most of the city's main central train stations, King's cross area has loads, it's not quite as close to the city center but it is close to excellent transportation. Staying near Victoria is a good idea because of all the great transportation connections and it's a safe area. www.4hotels.co.uk is a good place to start B&B shopping. It also lets you browse by region of London. The bigger sites like www.hotels.com, www.expedia.com, etc. usually have some B&B listings for London as well.

I'd also recommend the Hotel St. Simeon B&B in Kensington http://www.stsimeon.com/. This B&B had spacious rooms, gorgeous lobby, great breakfasts and was in a really nice area of the city, right off Gloucester Road tube station.

Rates for these types of B&Bs usually start at around 40 pounds ($80). And since they include large breakfasts they help stretch your food budget as well!

  7. The most reasonably priced accommodation that's still clean (albeit simple) is run by the YHA (Youth Hostels Association). It has a clutch of hostels right in the centre of London, as well as lots more across the UK.

You don't have to be a member, but if you are, you get £3 discount per night on the cost of accommodation.

Membership costs £15.95, or £9.95 a year if you're under 26. And even full-price accommodation costs around £20 a night.

There are two in the West End (nearest the theatre district, also good for shopping and sights such as Trafalgar Square, Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace and loads more).

They are the London Central hostel (Bolsover Street) and the Oxford Street hostel.

If you want to be that central, Bolsover Street is nicer: Oxford Street itself is always noisy and I wouldn't choose to stay overnight there.

But of all the London hostels, the one I'd recommend most is St Paul's, in the old City of London (also good for sightseeing -- near St Paul's Cathedral, the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, Bankside Tate Gallery, Museum of London, Shakespeare's Globe theatre and more).

The City area is amazingly quiet and pleasant at night. The hostel is only a minute from the cathedral itself. It's in the heart of the old City of London, and the short bus ride there from the West End is great for sightseeing.

Here's the weblink for the YHA, so you can have a look for yourself. http://www.yha.org.uk/find-accommodation...

Hope you have a wonderful visit, wherever you end up booking.

Love from a Londoner born and bred.
