I want to start a career in photography.

So I was wondering what to do to get into one of the top schools.

Anyways, my birthday is coming up and I figured Id ask for a camera.

I love photography so yeah, I want to give it a try.

I want a great camera that's awesome for starters.

My parents won't really care about price.

So what do you recommend?

A sony?

canon?

  1.    i will recommend canon

Canon PowerShot SD950 is a good choice (it is 12mp)

       Canon PowerShot SD1000 / Digital IXUS 70 (7.1mp)

  2. If you are thinking of going to school or going professional you will need an SLR. An SLR is a camera that you can change the lenses on. Many schools will require a film camera first so you may want to look at getting a used 35mm SLR.

If you want a digital one then I would look at the entry level cameras from Canon and Nikon. They are currently the only manufacturers of professional level cameras. If this is your eventual goal then they are really the only choices in my opinion. When you buy an SLR you are buying into a system of cameras and lenses. It can be very expensive to switch brands because the lenses wont work on other brands.

Some cameras to look at would be.

Canon Rebel XTi, XSi or the new XS

    Nikon D40 or D60
