What's a good car to buy for about $12,000.00? Thinkin about a 2004-05 Jetta GLI. Please give me your opinion.

Check out the April issue of Consumer Reports. It should be available in the library. Their annual auto issue lists the best cars (reliability) within price ranges such as yours. It gives exact models and years and also shows you what others have found to be weaknesses and strengths, problems, with each car. I've found it invaluable in purchasing used cars. Consumer's Union is impartial - they don't have advertisements so all of their reviews are unbiased and fair.

Volkswagons are garbage.  Everyone I know that has one or had one had nothing but problems with them.  Get a Honda

Accord...you could probably get an '04 for 12K

or an Altima '03-'04 as well.   German cars cost sooo much for parts/repairs
