Ok, so I am starting up an 80 gallon community tank with the following fish in it:

* 10 Fancy guppies

* 10 Neon Tetras

*4 Platys

*4 Mollies (2 Balloon 2 Dalmatian)

*4 Swordtails

*8 Cory cats

*4 Otos

*3 Female bettas

*2 Angelfish

The thing is I want to know a good centrepiece for my fish tank... it is going to have a heater, filter and aerator in it, but the centrepiece must be even the least compatible with my fish already coz i don't want it eating any... I was thinking a dwarf gourami, but maybe not... PLZ!!! Any suggestions!

P.S. I already have the guppies but the other fish aren't coming in for a while.

  1. I like the golden ram, or blue ram. Its a cichlid, but is compatible with this tank. The only potential problem I can see is the angel fish because I have never kept them, and they can be aggressive, but the ram is about the size of a molly so it maybe ok. They are compatible with all the rest and are a nice looking fish. I am about to set up a similar tank and will have rams for sure. Also, have you thought about clown loaches? They are a great fish, but you will need  3 or more cause they like to be in groups. Both these fish are bottom dwelling, the ram bottom to mid.

  2. zebra danios

  3. an opaline gourami. one would work, or you could get them in groups, but get two females for every male or all one gender. they love company, but do work well alone also. with a tank your size i would get two or three, they are beautiful and very hardy. they live long also.

  4. I would really not mix the Bettas with the Angels-- the Angels will find the slow-moving Bettas to be easy targets, and as adults, will constantly "play" with them.  I would strongly recommend replacing the Bettas with a pair of Pearl Gouramis-- between the Pearl Gouramis and Angels, you'll have two very nice species to serve as co-centerpieces.

    EDIT: Even in such a large tank, I would be very hesitant to put Opaline (AKA Blue) Gouramis with Angels-- these are far more aggressive than Pearl Gouramis and are much more likely to instigate fights.

  5. dwarf gouramis are my fav fish.  they're not nearly as aggressive as other gouramis but look just as cool and wont eat your neons and guppies! i have four, 2 bright blue ones and 2 blue and pink flecked ones and they catch the light so well :)

  6. glow fish are awesome, umm so are zebra danios.  i would try that
