I have a '77 Beetle that needs a pan off restoration. What is a reputable business that can do the job without being a rip off in cost. Because some places charge well over $30,000 for this. How good is their work and how long have they been in business? Thanks.

  1. No company that works on old VWs can be a good company... all the good shops work on stuff a lot more modern and technically advanced.  A VW can be sent to any shop with a wrench a penchant for masochism.  The best company to take an old VW to would be your local junkyard.  Sorry.

  2. You can check this link..there are some companies listed.

I'm redoing a 71. Some things I will do myself and some things I will have done. Buy a Chilton and a Bentley book and have at it. They are not that hard to work on and they are a pretty fun little car. Turn heads every where you go...even before gas was 4.00 a gal. :-) and most of the satisfaction comes from doing it yourself. To get mine looking brand new will probably cost about 4000.00 and that includes paying other people for certain jobs.

Besides for 8-20,000 you can buy one already done. Just depends on what you are looking for.
