What's a good dinner idea to make for a dinner party?

This Friday me and my boyfriend are having my friend and his friend over for dinner (we're trying to help them make a love connection.)

Generally I love to cook my homemade lasagna when people come over, which I might still do, but I was looking for other possibilities other than that, and also dessert ideas.

Cornish hens.. each gets one.. looks very elegant and is good. Stuff them with a sausage stuffing. Serve with basmati rice or new potatoes and a salad garnished with dried cranberries and candied walnuts and blue cheese.. mmmmmm

Since you are trying to make a love connection, serving foods that you will eat with your hands can eliminate any initial discomfort.  I suggest you serve Buffalo Chicken wings with ranch and blue cheese dressing.  Include the carrot and celery sticks too.

For dessert, I recommend a fresh berry cobbler.  Peach is my favorite.

I always make things that can be made ahead of time and your menu sounds perfect with a tossed salad  garlic bread  and a light sherbet for dessert

Something that isn't too messy. The last thing they would want to do is spill something all over themselves and look like a clutz in front of a potential love interest. Ricotta babycakes for dessert though.
