  1. Dodge Dart or Plymouth Barracuda. They had to make a racing class just for these to vehicles (SS/AH) because they beat all the camaros and mustangs. Chrysler A-bodies are one of the cheapest fastest muscle cars you could ever get.

  2. It depends.  If your wanting a stock car to drag race, then stay away from the unibody cars.  If you have a unibody car, you would want to tie the frame together to stop it from flexing.  Novas are the worst cars for flex when stock.  They look cool but you thave to tie the frame to keep it from twisting under load.  The best thing to look for is one that is already done, you get them cheaper that way!!  If the car hasn't had a huge tourqie motor in it, then it will last for ever.  The cost of tieing one together and backhalfing it is way more expensive than, just buying a used one.

I always liked the 66 post chevy II's but you have to basically front half them so they will stay together.

Chevy malibu's are a good choice as well.

If you wanted to go all out, buy a tube chassis and put what ever body you want on it!!

  3. try a '62 pickup. I watched Pinks All-out with that lady with the Ford pickup who cleaned house.

  4. If you are looking for a nice vehicle you can buy cheap and slowly build it yourself I would start looking for late seventies to mid eighties malibu, monte carlo, or buick regal's.

  5. I would definitely go with a Chevy vehicle. The Camaro or Nova are great ideas. I even think the Monte Carlo is great but the older models carry more weight.

  6. i say you look for an import you can make as much power as a muscle car and weigh 2000 pounds less, my friend has a honda crx thats running 14.7-15 not that fast i know but his motor only makes 120 hp and thats not to the wheels you can do a swap plus add turbo, nos, super charger, etc and be making over 450hp in a 1500 pound car (if you gut it all out). You dont have to have 8 cylinders to be fast.

  7. We have a 79 Camaro... I don't recommend stock... They are very heavy cars we have taken so much weight off our car (crash bars in the door about 43 lbs a piece but only if you are putting in a roll cage) take out the windows replace with lexan thats a good chunk of weight... fiberglass hood...fuel cell...there are so many things you can do to lighten these types of cars...we still have a lot of weight we can take off if we decide to... this car is just a bracket car low 7's (haven't run it yet waiting for cooler weather..) check racingjunk.com they usually have great project starter cars...with anything in drag racing be prepared to spend a chunk of change... but its all worth it in the end... Good Luck!!

  8. the best bracket drag car i ever owned was 1978 firebird 1 seat crome molly roll cage factory re built motor and a stiff rear end 114 mph if the wind was blowing the right way go a lot faster with a good racing mecanic

  9. a solid mid-80's mustang seems to be a good car to start with. Mustangs with the 302 is a good motor to start with. get yourself a good 351 with the 400 ford crank, you have a solid stroker. Gt-40 heads and a good intake/carb, you can get a solid 400 horse motor.

Slide in a short throw shifter, and a 9 inch rear, to have a solid solid car.

  10. the Chevy Cutlass
