Question:

What's a good guitar?

I get so discouraged to play the guitar because after a few mins of playing, my thumb, wrists, and fingers start hurting a lot. I have to press down really hard on the strings, otherwise I don't get a good sound and the strings start making an ugly trembling sound.

Does anybody know of a good guitar that doesn't need a lot of force to hold/press the strings to create a good sound....also a decent price!

HELP!

I really want to learn :-/

  1. try a guitar with a smaller frame. The smaller neck is easier to hold than a larger one. You can start out with nylon strings until you develop calluses, they're easier to play and don't require as much pressure.

  2. i have a gibson and i love it! the sound is great plus is easy to play! i have really small hands and can barely reach some of the chords and it still comes out  sounding great.  a lot of my friends have taylors and they all seem to love it too. ive played on one before and it seems just as good! im not sure on the prices though...

  3. My fingers hurt like h**l too when I first started playing Electric. You just have to deal with it until you get calusses.

  4. I have a spencer I got for about 150$ that kicks ***... I really like it and it sounds amazzing...

  5. try lighter strings , but really no you just have to "tough it out" till you build calluses

  6. just practice some more andyoull develop calluses on your fingers so it wont hurts as much and your wrist will also strengthen over time

  7. You can't go wrong with a name brand guitar - I'm partial to Fender. But the type of strings you use can make a big difference. There are some very bendable, "slinky" style strings available that are pretty easy on the fingers, but I find they slip out of tune very easily. Ask for advice in your local music store and try a lot of different models. But the bottom line is you have to suffer a while for your art until your fingers toughen up. Otherwise you should switch to the tuba.

  8. Try lowering the action of the guitar by lowering the strings on your axe.

    hope this helps
