What would be an example of a good ad headline that would increase responses in a newspaper ad for a catering business. They say there's a science to good headlines and ad copy. Thank you for your help!

  1. The first rule in creating a good headline is to speak directly to your target audience.

    What type of catering are you going for?  Is this catering for corporate events or are you mainly a caterer for bar mitzvahs?  A good headline will be impactful, and will get your demographic to read further.

    Also, what is your unique selling proposition?  A USP is necessary for you to establish what makes you different from your competition.  Every company should have a USP!

    "Like you cooked it yourself" would be a good tag line if your unique selling proposition was that everything was homemade and that you are charging a higher price point for the best quality.

    "Gourmet catering at fast food prices" would be a good tag line if you provide excellent food and low prices.

    So my answer to your question is: what is your USP?

    I've been in the graphic design and advertising field for over 22 years, very often there simply isn't enough information to go on.  This is one of those cases.
