What's a good hotel in Paris near attractions?

We're considering a short trip to Paris soon. We'd be there for 4 or 5 nights and I'm looking for suggestions on a hotel. It would have to be affordable but no less than 3 stars. Something along the lines of a Best Western. I'd also like to be in the city, not far from the main attractions.

  1. I always stay at the Hotel Saphir Grenelle.  It is a two star (I know you specified 3 star, but give it a chance), very clean,  and has recently been renovated with new drapes, bedspreads and flat screen TVs.  The rooms are small, but if you are only there for 4 or 5 nights and all you are doing in your room is sleeping, it is a great place.  I don't think there are rooms with bathtubs (showers only), but you could ask.  It is not a Best Western, but neither is Paris located in the US.  It is a nice little European hotel and very good value for your money.

It is located ten minutes from the Eiffel tower (on foot), at 10, rue du Commerce.  You can stay there for five nights for E250 (I just checked, they have a special).  Taxi from Roissy Charles de Gaulle airport to the hotel is about E65.  I usually take the airporter, but if there are two of you, a taxi is just as cheap.

The hotel is located half a block from the Motte Piquet Grenelle metro stop.  You would buy a week long subway pass and have unlimited access.

There is a Monoprix (department store with full grocery store upstairs) on the corner.  You can get continental breakfast at the hotel, but I usually go to the bakery/cafe next door where there is more variety (cheaper and more interesting).

There is a huge outdoor market (underneath the above-ground metro line) on Wednesdays and Sundays.  Plenty of restaurants and boutiques within walking distance.

This hotel is smack in the middle of a real neighbourhood.  The staff  are fabulous and helpful.  I can't recommend it highly enough.  It is a gem.

  2. Best Western Lorette Opera

    It fits all your categories.

    It's 4.5 stars and only $133 a night.
