I purchased it almost a year ago so it's too late to take it back and I need a new camera but I don't have a lot to spend and I don't want to make the same mistake.

  1. Look at the Canon Powershots.  I've had one for over two years and love it.  Excellent camera company, and they come in a variety of models and prices.

  2. The all time winner bargain compact digital camera is the Canon 7.1 megapixel PowerShot SD1000 [not the IS] 7.1 with an added 2- gig memory card which when set in the manual mode for "Vivid" colors and videos at 30 fps in 320 dpi format provides killer images and videos. It currently sells for $160 at Sears:

    Good luck!

  3. The Olympus underwater camera's are great! You can't put them underwater for more than an hour but you can take shots for at least that long. They also take great landshots and are really small. I use mine for trips and keep it in a small case. I also bought an underwater housing and use it for snorkeling. It's fun - easy - and has lots of settings for a variety of situations. I'd say it's worth the money!

P.S. I was so happy with them I bought an SLR now and am playing with that one. They do make great cameras.

Oh, don't get the Sony - problems with focusing and my mom doesn't like hers even though it's a 10 mega pixel. Mine takes better shots and it's only a 7 mega pixel.
