Question:

What's a good initial drum to buy 4 using @ drum circles & jamming w/friends playing guitar/other instrument

i was wondering about these points:

1. about the suggested size of the drum...like the diameter of the head

2. material of drum

3. do you think that it's better to get a head that has the screwed adjusting or whatever you call it rather than trying to tune/keep the skin tight by the traditional kind of strings that i have seen or other ways

one of my friends had this youth's 10'' djembe that was for like 50-60something dollars online made by remo. ..i thought this might be a good first drum to have out of several that one might own because of it's portability even though you can't tune the head...it just has some strap of fabric and i don't know how it is fastened to the body.

  1. I can't think of the name of it, but there is this really cool box type drum that you sit on to play.  Great for drum circles or just jammin'.  Any store with drums will know what you're looking for if you don't see it right away.  The djembe is a great choice as well.
