I am a junior at St. Mary's College http://smcm.edu/students/index.html

With only one year left as an art major before graduating with my Bachelor's, I found out that we might be moving to zip code code 77041 in Texas either this October or this January (smack dab in the fall semester, or the beginning of my LAST semester before graduation).

I've looked at the Art Institute of Houston, but I think their curriculum is more focused than my liberal arts education (I'm trying to get as many credits transferred as possible, you see). Can you recommend a college or university that that would fit my needs and is near 77041?

  1. Their phone number is: 713.743.2255

I would be shocked if Metro didn't drop you off right at the main campus

  2. St. Thomas is actually a great school, but with liberal art school transfers, sometimes you have to take theology classes over to meet that school's personal preference.

    good luck.

  3. If you are a Junior, you are limited to a 4 year university.  You will be limited in Houston.  You have the University of Houston Downtown campus, University of Houston Main campus and University of Houston Clear Lake (too far away from you).  University of Houston Downtown would probably be easiest for you to get to on the bus.

There is also TSU which is a majority African American college.  Houston has a lot of junior colleges and there is one near you (I believe it is Lone Star College Cy-Fair but it is a 2-year program).  For 4 year programs you are limited to UH, Baylor, Rice, Houston Baptist University, and University of St. Thomas.  UH is a public school.

UH Central Campus is located at 4800 Calhoun, 77004.  The downtown campus is located at One Main Street, 77002.  From the 77041 zip code it would be easiest to get to downtown.  You can map it on the Metro website.
