  1. we were there a few years ago the local food was great ,remember the rule of thumb if theres a line the fod is great ,so look for busy places.

  2. I live in Tornto, and have to tell you there are far too many excellent restaurants to give you just a couple of reccomendations ( based on not knowing what kind of food you're interested in).

Below is a link to Toronto Life magazine, an online version of a monthly publication that details EVERYTHING about Toronto.... this page is for restaurants.

have fun exploring, most of the restaurants you click on will then have their own web pages.

You are going to love Toronto.....

  3. I also live in Toronto, and I agree that there are just too many great places to recommend, especially since we don't know the neighbourhood, price range, and type of food you might be looking for.

As the last answer said, the Toronto Life website has a fairly comprehensive list of restaurants, although some of the reviews are a little old. As an addition to that web site, I would recommend the Ontario Chowhound board (http://www.chowhound.com/boards/23) for suggestions or reviews - it's helpful when you already have a few ideas of where you want to eat, because you can often get recent feedback and narrow down your choices that way.

One more thing about Toronto: like many large cities, there are a number of diffrent neighbourhoods within it. For example, there is little India (called the Indian Bazaar), Greektown, little Italy, Portugal village, two Chinatowns, and a little Korea. You might want to seek out and stroll those neighbourhoods if you are in the mood for something in particular.  There are also other neighbourhoods such as the Entertainment district (catch a show and a bite to eat), the Beaches, and Queen St. West to explore.  Toronto has a lot to offer. Enjoy your visit!

  4. I agree with the two above. The dining is fantastic here. Again without knowing price range or type, it's hard to give a detailed short list. The website below gives restaurants in T.O. and you can search by cuisine type, price range or neighbourhood. Enjoy your stay.

  5. SWISS CHALET!  You could also try the Organ Grinder, The Keg... but my personal favourite is Swiss Chalet.  It's good food (especially the dipping sauce :) and good prices.  The Keg is expensive, but they have awesome steak.

  6. Burger King
