I'm looking at a Troy-Bilt on lowes.com. Any suggestions? What brand do you have?

  1. I use Echo SRM 210 with the easy start engine.  Whatever brand you pick, just check for an easy start engine.  Mine has low emmissions, not that I care, but it does nonetheless.

I am 5'11", so I like the straight shaft.  Bent shaft is better if you are shorter.

Also, try not to use fuel that is more than 6 weeks old.  Only buy enough to last that period of time.  A big problem with trimmers and small motors, gas absorbs water from the air and turns to varnish.  When you store it over winter, run it dry or mix up some fuel with fuel stabilizer when you store it.  That goes for all gas motors being stored for a few months or more.

  2. Hondas are guaranteed to start and very good.  Used alot commercially.

  3. I use STIHL equipment on a daily basis.  It is the best in the industry.  The junk from lowes doesn't compete.
