Question:

What's a good quote to let someone know to mind their own business or stop giving unsolicited advice?

I have a friend I mostly keep in touch with via letters or e-mail. He is constantly telling me how he thinks I should run my life, even though I have let him know several times his suggestions are not what I want or need. He got snippy and now he just peppers his letters with quotes he finds that say what he believes.

I just find this annoying and would like an arsenal of comeback quotes to show him what I think, since me speaking as me doesn't seem to be working.

Please tell me some quotes and sayings that:

~ tell someone to mind their own business in how I run my life, and

~tell someone to quit smothering me with unsolicited advice.

Thank you!

  1. Honestly, I think you should tell him "thank you for sharing" and from then on delete all of his emails without answering. that will make him realize that he has stuck his nose to far into your business, and you most likely will not hear from him again.

  2. "You will find that many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of veiw." -Obi Wan Kenobi

"Egotism is the anesthetic that dulls the pain of stupidity." -Frank Leahy

  3. "A man is likely to mind his own business when

it is worth minding. When it is not, he takes

his mind off his own meaningless affairs

    by minding other people's business."
