What's a good restaurant in Queens?

I just recently moved to LI and today's my grandmother's birthday, so I want to take her out tonight for some good food. We like ethnic food: Chinese, French, Mexican, Indian, Spanish, anything. Somewhere not too expensive, but not too cheap, with atmosphere and good food. Any recommendations?

I know you said Queens, but there is a great Chinese restaurant in Port Washington called Dynasty. It's not too far past Queens.

There are tons of fabulous restaurants in Astoria.

A personal favourite is Cafe Kyclades (greek) on Ditmars Boulevard, but it's very very hard to get in without having to wait on a long line. If you get there around 5 you should be able to get in before the dinner crowd.

There is also Agnanti.  It's a homey family oriented restaurant where everything is served family style.  The food is wonderful and not that expensive.

Don't miss the grilled sardines, lemon potatoes and Shredded Wheat (yes...Shredded Wheat breaded) fried shrimp.

If you'd prefer something French, 718 also on Ditmars is a lovely place. I love the striped bass with Artichokes and gnocchi. The restaurant was conceived by two French chefs who worked/own restaurants in Manhattan and brought their cuisine to Queens.

I love Manetta's on Vernon Jackson Blvd. It is great Italian food especially the Fettuccine Rosa. They also makes great brick oven pizza.

For Chinese, I love Buddha Bodai. It is vegetarian but they have fake meats. All my non-veg friends love this place. Try the General Tso's Tofu, Sesame Chicken, BBQ Veg Roast, Lettuce Song, Mixed Veggie Fried Rice and Sweet and Sour Chicken.

there's a place called kaituer which is indian cuisine but it's great and carifesta is another indian place. The Nest and Hibiscus are indian-chinese food but the environment is great there is a bar but separate from the restaurant itself. Hope this helps
