For a special occasion, call 24 hours in advance and order omakase (chef's choice). Tell how much you're willing to pay per person, any food allergies or items you won't/can't eat and they will shop accordingly. Half the items we had weren't even on the menu!

  11. In North vancouver there's the Tomahawk on Marine drive and Phillips next to the Mer. Benz.

    great place to go.

  12. stay out of the expensive restaurants. Try the small ones with something like live music. The extra ambiance is always great. The Heritage Grill in New Wesminister on Columbia is great. Needs renovations but food is made from scratch and has tons of local talant everynight.

  13. It really depends what you are looking for. Cin Cin in downtown Vancouver is a great place to see stars, but it will cost you a fair amount for dinner. Another nice restaurant in the downtown area is Cardero's. It is right on the water and specializes in seafood. If you want somewhere nice, but slightly less expensive, you could try the boathouse. Like many of Vancouver's restaurants it specializes in seafood but does have many other options. It has various locations around the lower mainland (all on the water). Chianti's cafe on West 4th is an awesome pasta restaurant and very affordable. Also on West 4th is Las Margaritas which is a fun Mexican restaurant famous for its margaritas. Finally, don't forget about Vancouver's huge Asian population. You can easily find Chinese and Japanese restaurants on nearly every street. Most are quite affordable. A fun Japanese restaurant if you aren't very experienced with sushi is The Eatery on Broadway. It has all the traditional Japanese cuisine, but also modern twists and American options.

I hope you have a good trip!
