I've been giving it some thought, and I think I might give mountain biking a go for. However I know nothing about it. What would be a good decently priced mountain bike?

  1. The Specialized Safire,Era FSR, and Myka Comp are WSD (Women Specific Design ) mountain bikes. They have sweet designs----drop by a Specialized mt. bike dealer and test drive them.

  2. Specialized has a good selection.

And Trek makes a good bike.

  3. The competition is so fierce that all companies make decent

    bikes these days.

To get reasonable quality, be prepared to spend (minimally) $300.

If you get a hundred dollar Huffy or Murray, you'll outgrow its

limitations in short order. They would be good for riding around

the block, but if you really want to 'get out there' you need to

    spend a few more bucks.

Trek, Giant, Specialized. Start there and see what you

can find, on sale maybe. (Good time of the year to

    find leftovers).

Make SURE the bike FITS YOU. Go to a real bike shop

and make sure they take the time to properly fit you on

    a bike. Very important.
