What's a good way of removing rust building inside a steel tube?

i have a steel tube that i want to use as a curtain holder for my bathroom, i can remove the rust building outside the tube with sand paper. but how do i remove the rust from the tube that's building inside the tube? the tube is like 6 feet long, and 1 inch in diameter.

  1. In my shop I use "The Works" for anything rusty, works all the time but, be careful of the eyes and the lungs, use it in the open then rinse good.


  2. You can allways get it sandblasted which will take the rust out from the inside ansd is cheap to get done , but if it rusts now the bathroom is full of moisture which will rust up again. your best bet if you want a tube is to go with aluminum or copper both can be very decorative and cheap at the same time

  3. why remove whats inside....kind of heavy for a curtain rod....they have plastic covers u can just place over the tube to cover any rust.....look where u find curtain rods....if u want u can even put 1 inside the tube...you'll nerver clean inside a long and thin tube
