What's a good way to keep snakes away from your house and your property?

My neighbor found a snake in her bathroom. I'm freaked out thinking maybe they could get in my house too. I have a dog that stays inside and I'm hoping the dog will keep them away.

  1. Believe it or not there are two ways.....

    One is to have a lot of outside cats.  

    The most logical is to go to K-Mart or Wal-Mart and purchase Moth Balls and put generously around the house.  For some reason snakes do not like Moth Balls.

    If the truth be known neither do I they smell takes my breathe away cause of allergy.


  2. The mothballs will work just fine.. (will keep the moths at bay a bit too).. BUT..

    If the snakes are harmless to people, keep in mind that they are there because something in the food chain encouraged them to be there.  If it is a small snake, it was most likely mice or rats.  Remove the snake and the mice have one less reason to stay away.    

    If the snake is not harmless, then that is another matter entirely, but if it is, then the mice will do substantially more damage and the snake will hunt them down in places where you can not.

MOTHBALLS!!!  Seriously.  A man that owns a pest control & termite company once told me that is what he uses.  Put lots of them around the boarder of your property; at trees.  I also googled this just now and came across this info (link below).  Read the long posting; about the 6th one down.  It gives you many other suggestions.  Be sure your property is clean of any snakes so you don't end up keeping one inside your property rather than out of it.  Good luck (can I have best answer cause I'm trying to reach 250 points....thanks)

  6. You can put snake-a-way around the foundation of the house.Its a mixture of mothball flakes and sulfer. You can find it a a hardware or lowes stores
