What's a good way to start acting?

I really want to start a career in acting. But what is a good way to start such as theatre groups and classes and college theatre and such? My goal is to one day pursue it professionally and really see all those dreams and goals to come true right, but I just really want to be realistic at the moment and to get a real good start to climb up the ladder slowly but surely :D

Do any and all community theatre that you can.  Audition for anything and everything that you can, either at church, school, or community theatre groups.

Take some public speaking classes.

Many of the larger theatres in the country have summer programs.  Enroll in them if you can.  For example:

Talk to your advisor in college about your curriculum, making sure you get some drama/theatre history classes.
