What IS IT with AmeriKans not wanting to BUY a GUIDE BOOK?  you can buy one cheaply in the U.S. and CARRY IT WITH YOU while traveling... Have you never HEARD of a Guide book or what?

Was just there and picked up a FREE copy of "Where" magazine in the hotel lobby. It gave tons of info on: restaurants, shopping, tours, day trips, etc, etc. etc.  These are in American hotels either in the rooms or lobby of that respective city.  They are complimentary and offer some good info that wasn't in the guide books (we had two - Rick Steves, and Frommers) as well as our memories of previous visits.  Also, so many well known things to see there, you can google to get alot of information beforehand.  Just go and walk and read maps and look and walk, and... be Parisian!!

Yahoo travel has good trip planning info. They give you the address, phone number and hours of operation of various attractions. I used it for my trip overseas and it was really handy and useful. They even have info on the lesser known museums and attractions. It also allows you to make a day by day itinerary. Also check the Paris info site. It can tell you about the local events and also tells what bus and metro are near the sights you want to see.
